Terrence E. Keating – July 25, 1938 – July 29, 2022

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague and friend Terrence (Terry) Keating.

Prior to his retirement in 2017, Terry Keating was of counsel to Berry Moorman P.C. Terry’s life can be described as service over self, loyal, dedicated, committed, faithful, loving, a true man for others.  A major component of his practice was estate planning, trusts and nonprofit law. Mr. Keating had more than 30 years of personal trust, probate and investment management experience. Terry was a proud graduate of the University of Detroit Jesuit High School (class of 1956), University of Notre Dame (class of 1960) and the University of Detroit Law School (class of 1963). He continued to be involved with those schools his entire life.

Terry was President of the Notre Dame National Alumni Association, the Notre Dame Class of 1960 and the Notre Dame Club of Detroit.  Mr. Keating was a member of the State Bar of Michigan, participating as a member of the Probate and Trust and the Taxation Sections of the State Bar. He served on the Advisory Board of Education for the Archdiocese of Detroit (Vice-Chair), and was a consultant to the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy. In addition, he was a member of the University of Notre Dame National Alumni Board Past Presidents Council, the Hundred Club, the Financial and Estate Planning Council of Detroit, Incorporated Society of Irish American Lawyers, the Planned Giving Roundtable of Metro Detroit and Board of Directors of the DAC Foundation.

Terry was a Past President of both the Detroit Golf Club and the Detroit Athletic Club.

Terry retired to his beloved Mullett Lake, where he and his wife, Noreen, had owned property for 30 years.

Terry is survived by his wife of 59 years Noreen; sons, Patrick and Kevin and daughter-in-law Karen.
