New Provisions to Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) Code Enacted
Governor Granholm approved recently-passed legislation that includes three new provisions for liquor licensees:
- Extended Sunday morning alcohol sales between 7 am and noon (current permits allow Sunday sales beginning at noon)
- Beer, wine and spirits sampling, and
- Extended service hours for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
The new Sunday morning alcohol sales provision is effective December 1, 2010 and requires an additional permit and fee (although the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) has yet to formally define the permitting process and will likely do so at its next scheduled public meeting, coincidentally to be held December 1). The sampling and extended Christmas hours provisions are effective immediately.
