Berry Moorman P.C. Labor and Employment attorney Sheryl Laughren recently presented at the Annual HSAWC Fund Meeting.
The Human Service Association Workers Compensation Fund (HSAWCF) is a compensation program organized for the purpose of providing workers compensation and related employer’s liability self-insurance for its members. The HSAWC Fund provides coverage for over 150 non-profit agencies in the State of Michigan.
Sheryl Laughren’s presentation focused on how current medical marijuana regulations affect workers’ compensation and other related employer liability issues. As Michigan courts further interpret the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act, companies are cautioned to handle these issues with care, and to work with a Labor and Employment attorney to ensure internal policies are in compliance with local and federal requirements.
